In Automotive, sustainability has become the common thread that impacts all facets of material selection and production, design, engineering, supply chain, component manufacturing, finishing, and assembly. Social responsibility and consumer expectations also drive innovation as manufacturers search for the proper mix of cost versus value. But what solutions will proliferate in the industry? The ITB Group’s inaugural sustainability conference addressed key challenges and developments in our industry and provided an excellent in-person platform for learning and having in-depth discussions with leaders from throughout the value chain.

Over four sessions, conference attendees were treated to 17 presentations including two informative keynote presentations by Ms. Gina Oliver of the American Chemistry Council, and Dr. Alper Kiziltas from Ford Motor Company. These discussions covered transitions toward a circular economy from a materials perspective; and using the circular economy to reach carbon neutral vehicles. Open Q&A sessions followed each presentation and the audience participation led to the continuation of valuable discussions that spilled out of the presentation room and kept the networking breaks buzzing.

An afternoon roundtable provided ideas and developments on how to create new recycling loops for a circular economy and addressed questions from the audience. The discussion was led by Mitra O’Malley, Managing Director and Co-Founder of ITB, and Dr. Rose Ryntz, Vice President – Sustainability at ITB. Participants included Ascend Performance Materials, Eastman Chemical, Ford Motor Company and PADNOS.

The event was capped off with a lively cocktail hour where participants could network and continue their business discussions in a more relaxed environment.

Conference feedback and testimonials have been extremely positive and planning for our next event in February 2023 is already underway. Want to get in on the action, promote your developments, and help define how sustainability will drive the future of automotive? Options to become a sponsor, exhibitor, and presenter are available and further details will be released soon.
